Baggage Policy
Carry-on Baggage
Passengers travelling on Azores Airlines flights are allowed to bring one piece of carry-on baggage that must fit in the overhead compartment and meet the following requirements:
- Maximum dimensions: 55 x 40 x 20 cm (21.6 x 15.7 x 7.8 in)
- Maximum weight: 8 kg (17.6 lbs)
In addition to the carry-on bag, passengers may also bring one personal item such as a purse, laptop bag, or briefcase.
Checked Baggage
The baggage allowance for checked baggage on Azores Airlines flights depends on the ticket fare and the destination. Here are the general rules:
- Economy Class: 1 piece of baggage up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- SATA Plus Class: 2 pieces of baggage up to 32 kg (70 lbs) each
Passengers may purchase additional baggage allowance at an additional fee, and excess baggage fees may apply if the weight and/or dimensions of the baggage exceed the limit.
Cabin Classes
Economy Class
Economy Class is one of two cabin classes that Azores Airlines offers and is the most basic of the two. While the cabin is more simplistic than Business Class, it is a more affordable option.
Economy Class Seats
Economy Class seats are set out in a 3 x 3 formation on narrow-body aircraft and a 2 x 4 x 2 formation on wide-body aircraft.

In outgoing flights from Portugal, executive class meals will be prepared by the local chefs. These are meals specifically designed for SATA Business 'Executive' Class flights, combining typical ingredients from the Azores and Madeira with international and contemporary cuisine to provide a unique sensorial experience. Meals are served in modern chinaware of contemporary design.
SATA's Business class passengers will be provided with the latest newspapers and magazines. For greater comfort onboard, passengers have at their disposal a pillow and a soft wool blanket. Long-distance passengers will be provided with an amenity kit containing products to ensure an enjoyable and more comfortable trip.
Prior to boarding: The SATA lounges enable passengers greater relaxation, with more modern and comfortable furniture, of elegant and sober design. Priority baggage and check-in are also provided.
What are Business Class seats like?
Business Class seating positions have an average distance between rows of 47cm in Airbus A310 aircraft and 33cm in Airbus A320 aircraft, providing passengers with greater comfort and relaxation.
Check-In Information
Online Check-In
Online check-in is available through the Azores Airlines online check-in page. Online check-in is available from 48 hours up until 75 minutes before flight departure time on most flights.
On flights leaving from London, online check-in closes three hours before the scheduled flight departure time.
On flights leaving from Frankfurt, online check-in closes seven hours before the scheduled flight departure time.
On flights leaving from Canada and the US, online check-in closes 75 minutes before the scheduled flight departure time but is only open 24 hours before.
Airport Check-In
Airport check-in can be completed by visiting one of the airline check-in desks at the airport of departure. Airport check-in times differ depending on which airport passengers are departing from.
On inter-island flights (with Azores), the check-in closing time is 30 minutes before departure.
On flights departing from Lisbon, the check-in closing time is 60 minutes before departure.
On domestic flights in Portugal and European flights, the check-in closing time is 45 minutes before departure.
On intercontinental flights, the check-in closing time is 60 minutes before departure.
Food & Drink
Passengers are served complimentary food and drink on all flights, excluding flights that fly between the Azores islands.

In-flight Entertainment
Passengers can connect their personal electronic devices to Azores Airlines' Cabin Media Player app and enjoy a range of movies, music and children's entertainment on the comfort of their own device.
To connect to Azores Airlines' in-flight entertainment system, passengers must download the Cabin Media Player app on either the Google Play or Apple App store before their flight. Once in-flight passenger must connect to the AirAzores_wifi network, open the Cabin Media Player app and purchase an internet package to begin enjoying the airline's entertainment.
*Please note that in-flight entertainment is only available on flights operated by Airbus A321neo aircraft.

SATA Imagine is Azores Airlines frequent flyer program that rewards passengers that regularly fly on the airline. Members of SATA Imagine rewards frequent flyers with rewards flights and special benefits.
